Microsoft Windows Professional Engineer with Exchange (A+, Net+, MCP, MCSE)

This takes our most comprehensive program, which teaches an entry-level individual the skills required for PC service and support as well as advanced skills in networking and Microsoft's Windows 2000 Operating System, and then adds specific training on MS Exchange.

From PC basics and diagnostics forward to Windows 2000, this program has been carefully designed to help the student gain the knowledge and skills to qualify for the various and prestigious industry certifications.

Students enrolled in this program will learn how to install and configure PC hardware such as disks, memory and network adapters, and to install operating systems such as Windows and DOS. The program will also cover diagnosis and troubleshooting of typical problems with hardware and operating systems. Students will learn how to install Microsoft Office, set up printing and troubleshoot common problems relating to Microsoft Office and e-mail. The curriculum also introduces concepts of computer networking, including LANs and WANs, TCP/IP and the fundamentals of network administration.

The PC Service and Support Technician Program helps students prepare for examinations which lead to the A+ and Network+ Certifications, which are industry-wide, vendor neutral programs developed and sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). These credentials recognize a higher level of training in the service and support field. This program prepares students for employment in jobs involving the service and support of personal computers. PC Service and Support also serves as the academic prerequisite for the Microsoft Windows 2000 Certificate Program.

Length of Program: 19 weeks in the day program or approximately 40 weeks part-time in the evening program.

Web Essentials

In the Web Essentials Certificate of Completion Module students will look at the technologies that make the Internet so popular and learn how they can create effective and efficient web sites. By starting at the beginning with an introduction of the core technologies of HTML and web graphics, students will learn how to write code effectively and build easily navigable sites.
Later in the module, students will learn Macromedia Dreamweaver, which is a very robust application that incorporates HTML, Dynamic HTML, JavaScript and powerful site management features into a customizable application.

Web Design

Web pages allow visitors to not only view information, but also to interact with it. Perhaps the most appealing aspect of the World Wide Web is its capacity to unite text, graphics, audio, and video, in ways that enhance the user's experience. These multiple media components can be combined to form the look and feel of a Web site.
A well-designed graphical interface provides for the needs of all potential users, and strives to supply superior navigability, and accessibility of information. The focus of this module is the development of dynamic 'front end' content for web sites, as applied within the guidelines of optimum usability.
Although there are a variety of tools available to web designers for the purpose of editing text, graphics, audio, and video independently, none manage these media in concert better than Macromedia Flash. Macromedia Flash fuses the precision and flexibility of vector graphics with bitmaps, audio, animation, and sophisticated interactivity to create dazzling Web interfaces that magnetize and engage visitors. This designer-friendly application easily integrates with existing Web production workflow & Web design tools.
Students will be given the opportunity to generate Flash 'movies', grounded in the basics of effective graphical user interface design. These presentations will evolve through student participation in instructor-led 'real world' design scenarios. Extensive discussion and demonstration of industry relevant techniques will be applied within a 'hands-on' training environment.

Web Development

In the Web Development Certificate of Completion Module, students will learn to develop dynamic web applications with a minimal amount of coding. Web sites that incorporate connectivity to databases are one of the fastest areas of growth for companies to effectively serve their customers on the World Wide Web.
This module focuses on the back-end development, instead of the design and interface of the site. In these classes, students will learn the JavaScript programming language and how to incorporate their scripts to make their web pages more dynamic. SQL will offer the language that will allow them to extract data from databases. Finally, students will also learn Allaire ColdFusion to develop rapid interactive applications for the web.

Length of Program:5 weeks in the day program or approximately 15 weeks part-time in the evening program.

E-Commerce Development with Cold Fusion

In the last five years the business done over the World Wide Web has grown exponentially. However, the very nature of the Web is such that every company large or small can participate in this new business environment. This program will teach the student how they can build their own E-commerce Web site using Allaire's ColdFusion.
Throughout the two-week program students will have direct hands on experience with the practical steps needed to design and develop such a site. At the same time students will also be discussing many of the issues surrounding the implementation and maintenance of an E-Business. Topics discussed will range from hosting issues, to marketing strategies. The program is fast paced, much more so than the Web Developer Program, and assumes students have at least basic skills in ColdFusion, SQL and HTML.
This is a two-week day program or approximately a 6-week part-time evening program.
