Microsoft Windows Networking Professional (A+, Net+, MCP)

In the Microsoft Windows Networking Professional Program, students will learn how to install and configure PC hardware such as disks, memory and network adapters, and to install operating systems such as Windows and DOS. The program will also cover diagnosis and troubleshooting of typical problems with hardware and operating systems. Students will learn how to install Microsoft Office, set up printing and troubleshoot common problems relating to Microsoft Office and e-mail. The curriculum also introduces concepts of computer networking, including LANs and WANs, TCP/IP and the fundamentals of network administration.

The MS Networking Professional program helps students prepare for examinations which lead to the A+ and Network+ Certifications, which are industry-wide, vendor neutral programs developed and sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). These credentials recognize a higher level of training in the service and support field. This program prepares students for employment in jobs involving the service and support and networking of personal computers.

Additionally, this program trains students in Windows 2000. Windows 2000 is Microsoft's latest Operating System for global organizations and it brings great opportunity for those who are skilled in its use and deployment. In response to the growing demand for skilled professionals in Windows 2000, we have developed the most comprehensive set of Windows 2000 career training programs in the industry. Each program has been carefully designed to help the student gain the knowledge and skills to start to qualify for industry certification. All MOC (Microsoft Official Curriculum) modules in the program are taught by Microsoft Certified Trainers.

In particular, Microsoft awards premier status to individuals who can demonstrate proficiency in their products. Students in this program can start to gain the prestigious status of Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). This status is valuable since, for example, Microsoft estimates that among 13,000 companies that are Microsoft Certified Solution Providers, more than 41,000 technical jobs are open worldwide. Research shows that Microsoft certification provides organizations with decreased support costs through improved service, increased productivity, and greater technical self-sufficiency. Perhaps that is why many companies look for people who have attained this status.

Length of Program: 15 weeks in the day program or approximately 36 weeks part-time in the evening program.
